Usually dahi vadas are made fried lentil dumplings then soaked in water to remove excess oil and soften them. Later served with thick creamy yogurt with some spices. Well today we are having the same dahi vada but a non fried version. Yes you got that right… These yummy looking dahi vadas are not fried, they are steamed dumplings dunked in thick yogurt and spice mix. No isn’t that a blessing for all the calorie watchers like me? Now pour the yogurt with added sugar and salt on the Idli. Now decorate the bowl with potatoes, pomegranate , chat masala, chutney and curry leaves or coriander leaves and serve chilled. Ingredients
6 Rice , oats and dal Idli
1/2 Kg yogurt finely mashed smoothly with
2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon chat masala
Imli chutney
1 pomegranate (anar)
2 small potatoes horizontally chopped
Curry or coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Method
Take the freshly steamed Idli in a bowl. Now pour the yogurt with added sugar and salt on the Idli. Now decorate the bowl with potatoes, pomegranate , chat masala, chutney and curry leaves or coriander leaves and serve chilled.
There is no difference in the taste.
